The Netronome Open Appliance Platform enables application acceleration, deep packet inspection and flow analysis in a highly scalable manneraddressing the needs of both developers and users of network appliances for significantly increased application performance and greater control over network traffic.
The Open Appliance Platform combines the Netronome Flow Manager [NFM] and Netronome Flow Engine (NFE) in a single appliance enabling independent software vendors (ISVs) to quickly provide their products with application acceleration, increased network performance, granular flow processing and deep packet inspection.
The NFM offers a highly flexible application programming interface (API) that delivers a broad set of flow analysis and deep packet inspection capabilities enabling unmatched visibility and control of application flows at layers 2-7 for 1,000,000 simultaneous flows. The NFM is enhanced by the NFE's line-rate performance with very low latency. The Open Appliance Architecture allows network and security application vendors to quickly take advantage of these capabilities for their current Linux based IA/x86 applications. This unique combination of accelerated network performance, granular flow visibility, and reduced time-to-market makes the NFM an ideal solution for network appliances used for:
--Security and compliance;
--Intrusion detection and prevention;
--Unified threat management;
--Deep packet inspection;
--Web proxy and load balancing;
--LAN/WAN bandwidth optimization;
--Network test and measurement;
--Network service assurance;
--Carrier IT; and
--Government applications.
Netronome Open Appliance Platform features and benefits include:
--Granular Flow Processing: Granular flow processing and deep packet inspection for a robust set of L2-L7 protocols on up to 1,000,000 simultaneous flows and for up to 250,000 new flows per second.
--High Performance: Multi-Gigabit line rate throughput with less than 10µs of delay.
--High Availability: For mission-critical designs, a highly redundant system that covers all critical components, such as fans, power supplies and network interfaces in fail to open/close configurations.
--Open Architecture: Based on standard Linux distributions, the Open Appliance offers a fully programmable API that allows ISVs to quickly integrate with existing applications to significantly increase network performance and the control of network flows.
