The ENP-2611 is a PCI-based board incorporating the Intel® IXP2400 network processor. With three Gigabit Ethernet optical or copper ports for fast-path data plane traffic, the ENP-2611 enables gigabit wire speed packet processing without the high development costs and risks associated with ASIC-based designs. Based on programmable network processor technology, it offers the maximum possible functional flexibility with a quick time to market. A single ENP-2611 can be programmed to implement a wide variety of applications and enable the design of network devices that are immune to functional obsolescence. Updates to a device's feature set are implemented with a software update rather than costly and time-consuming hardware redesign.
