Advantech's first SOC-based platform, the FWA-3240, is featuring with new Intel® EP80579 Integrated Processor System-on-a-Chip (SOC) solution targeted for entry level SOHO/SMB Internet applications, such as IDS/IPS, Anti-virus, and VPN gateways. The Intel® EP80579 Integrated Processor solution integrates the North & South Bridge into one chipset, provides FWA-3240 the prefect balance for performance, connectivity and throughput without compromising system thermal design. It features a low-power design, and supports DDR2 system memory at 800 MHz up to 2 GB on single-channel SO-DIMM banks.

FWA-3240 supports a total of four GbE LANs, where three from the Intel® EP80579 Integrated Processor with RGMII interface, which connects directly to the Marvell 88E1111 PHY for GbE connectivity. The fourth LAN port is a PCIe-based GbE LAN using Intel 82574 Ethernet controller.

The system supports one 2.5" SATA HDD, and CompactFlash for OS and/or Internet security applications. The CompactFlash design helps to avoid service disruption caused by hard disk mechanical/magnetic failures. The front panel has a RS-232 serial port with RJ-45 socket, and a LCD Module for local system management, maintenance and diagnostics. It is FCC, CE and RoHS compliant.
