The Catalyst system based on the Intel® Atom™ Processor Z5xx series beefs up performance while maintaining low power and maximizing the MIPS to mW ratio.
The Catalyst system (with processor module and adapter board) is based on the Intel® Atom™ Processor Z5xx series and the Intel System Controller Hub. The Catalyst contains up to 1.6 GHz x86 CPU with 533 MHz Front Side Bus, DDR-2 up to 1 GB, up to three SD/MMC cards, up to two PATA Disk Drives, graphics up to VXGA and HD, dual independent display support, Intel HD Audio and up to eight serial ports (USB 2.0). The Catalyst supports a range of operating system options including Microsoft Windows Vista, XP, Embedded XP, CE, Linux, and targeted real-time operating systems (RTOS). Maximum power consumption is less than 5W with typical applications consuming 2-3W average. The adapter board can be customized allowing for customer specific requirements. Adapter board expansions can include Serial Ports, 4 or 5 wire Touch Screen Interface, Parallel Port, IrDa Interface, Digital & Analog I/O's, CAN Bus, 10/100/1000 LAN, PCI-Express for HS I/O, Mini-PCI for Wireless application, Microphone and Speaker Audio.

Does anyone know if the Catalyst Module uses a socketed system BIOS part? What is the External BIOS for and what types of BIOS can go there?
