Telecom Equipment Manufacturers (TEMs) are faced with significant performance increase in their packet processing needs. Traditionally, TEMs have utilized Application Specific Integrated Components (ASICs) and general-purpose processors to meet such packet processing needs. Network Processor Units (NPUs) enable wire speed packet-processing capability in network elements and programmability to meet changing needs in the network. The Promentum ATCA-7010 enables the highest packet-processing throughput in an AdvancedTCA® module and allows TEMs to accelerate their product development.

PROMENTUM FAMILY
The RadiSys Promentum family is a suite of AdvancedTCA platforms and building blocks enabling carrier grade soutions for wireless and wireline infrastructure applications such as CSCF, HLR/VLR, Media/Application Servers, SGSN, GGSN, RNC, Media Gateways, Edge Routers and B-RAS. The latest addition to the family is the Promentum ATCA-7010 10 Gbps Packet Processing Module. This module extends the capability of the Promentum family to applications requiring high bandwidth.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
The ATCA-7010 is a 10 Gbps throughput capable single slot ATCA module. The modular design enables I/O and fabric interface flexibility. Additionally, it is compliant with PICMG 3.0 and PICMG 3.x standards. The module includes dual Intel® IXP28xx network processors and a powerful memory architecture to address the most challenging of packet processing applications such as traffic aggregators, intrusion detection and high bandwidth line card applications.
