The Netronome Flow Driver (NFD) provides a set of drivers that enable low level communications between the Netronome Flow Engine (NFE) hardware and IA processors on the host motherboard across PCI Express.
Initially, the following hardware/software combinations are supported by the NFD:
1. One or more NFE family of acceleration cards installed in a host platform based on Intel® Architecture (IA)/x86 CPUs;
2. Network processor software environment:
--MontaVista Linux® 3.1 Pro operating system, Intel® IXA SDK 4.2 toolchain;
3. IA/x86 host platform software environment: most Linux distributions that use kernel version 2.6.x; most programming languages with C-compatible calling conventions.
(Support for other hardware platforms and operating systems is continually being added. Contact Netronome at "info@netronome.com" for the latest hardware and/or software support details.)
The driver includes a DMA layer, a message passing layer and a microblock Tx/Rx layer all with appropriate APIs.
